Former National Project Director for Global Platform on Sustainable Cities-Malaysia & CEO City Nexus Malaysia

Datuk Nik Ahmad Faizul is technologically driven and mission-orientated with over 25 years experience in steering planning and execution aspects of policy, industry development, and nation-building initiatives. His current focus is to accelerate the Urbanization and Climate Change mitigation through Smart and Sustainable Cities initiatives at the regional, national, state, and local levels :

  • Empowering governments and local councils in policies, programs, and projects planning.
  • Bridging key success factors on market, platform technologies and funding.
  • Spearheading key aspects of systemized implementation governance, private sector partnership and City Innovation Hubs to strengthen outcomes.
  • Increasing competitiveness by developing techno-based, market driven smart and green industry clusters, and accelerate Industry 4.0 applications.

As strategic advisor, technologist and industrialist, he syndicates strategic programs and projects in emerging areas in collaboration with federal, state and city governments, GLCs, private sectors and developers. He was awarded ‘Top 50 Most Impactful Smart Cities Leaders’ at the Global Smart Cities Congress, Mumbai, 2018. He has led several key nation-building initiatives as follow :

  • National Project Director for Global Platform on Sustainable Cities-Malaysia Program, in collaboration with GEF, World Bank, UNIDO, KPKT and Melaka State Government.
  • Program Director for Global Cleantech Innovation Program (GCIP) involving seven countries involving UNIDO, Cleantech Open in Silicon Valley to source and develop investable Malaysian cleantech companies with future prospect technologies.
  • Project Director to the 1st National Technology Foresight 2010 Project to establish and evaluate strategic technologies and business innovation for Malaysia in the next 10 years in collaboration with KISTEP, Republic of Korea.
  • Project Director to the 1st National SME Innovation Certification Program (1-InnoCERT) in collaboration with SME Corporation Malaysia.
